Exploring Bangkok: A Beauty Junkie’s Tale

If you are a beauty junkie like me, Bangkok is probably in your “places that MUST be visited” list. Yes, emphasis on the MUST. And shopping (mostly for beauty products) will be on top of your list when planning the itinerary for the trip. And trust me, it was mine too.

Before going to Bangkok, I sent a message to some beauty bloggers there for recommendations on where to go if I want to try their local beauty products. I’ve received, usually, common recommendations but of course, the explorer in me still deviated from the list they gave me. I don’t know, there’s just something about discovering things on your own.

Sephora Bangkok

But what kind of beauty junkie will not go to a Sephora store if there’s an opportunity right? When my mother-in-law booked our trip to Bangkok, we were all given a 500 Baht gift card to spend in selected shops and stores in Siam Center, Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery. And as luck would have it, there is a Sephora in Siam Center! I was able to buy some makeup and thank God for the gift card because Sephora Bangkok prices are actually more expensive than Sephora Philippines. The pros though is that you’re in the store itself and you get to try which shades suit you best. Aside from that, I was able to get a Sephora Beauty Pass and a free makeover! You can find some of your favorite brands there like Fenty, Kat Von D, Benefit, Urban Decay, and many more!

Karmart

So from Siam Center, we just walked our way back to the hotel. We passed by quite a few malls, but I had to stop when I saw a Karmart shop just outside Platinum Fashion Mall. It was like makeup convenience store. Karmart houses brands such as Cathy Doll, Baby Bright, Missha, Oppa Style, etc. What I did here is buy a few of their products I found to be interesting and then I came back the next day to kind of hoard. A special mention to the Baby Bright Eyeliners (yes, plural, because I got more than one of their Slim Line Black Charcoal Eyeliner) I bought. I wore it while partying at Khao San Road under the rain and it didn’t budge!

Stardust

So on our second day in Bangkok, our rented van dropped us off at MBK Center. We had our super late lunch but too early for dinner meal there and then decided to look around. There were other beauty stores Beauty Buffet and Oriental Princess. But what caught my attention is Stardust. See, I don’t have an unlimited supply of Baht so I had to spend my money wisely. And when I saw that Stardust houses some of our regular drugstore brands like L’Oreal, Revlon, and Maybelline, then maybe there would be local inexpensive brands here as well. And right I am! I also saw Peripera, Lucas Papaw, and Lime Crime here! They also carry Mistine here. I feel like Mistine in Bangkok is like Ever Bilena here in the Philippines. It’s one of the most known, but inexpensive beauty brands you can trust.

Boots

While I was accompanying my husband with his shopping at Siam Discovery, I noticed another beauty shop I would like to check out. Actually it’s more like Watsons – a pharmacy with personal care and beauty products in it. They have Mistine here as well, the usual drugstore brands, and also No7 and Soap and Glory.

EveandBoy

I regret not going here. Our trip was packed with too much walking. I really really REALLY wanted to go to Siam Square to check out EveandBoy, but because we were all too tired and have gone into a lot of malls and stores already, we opted to skip this one out. But this one is the most recommended beauty store of most Thai beauty bloggers I’ve talked to. Wait, they actually all have EveandBoy in their list. If ever you’re in Bangkok and isn’t as tired as I was, you need to go here. I will surely go to EveandBoy the next time I am in Bangkok. And I am coming back to Bangkok!

I would have to say that if you’re a beauty junkie, you will consider Bangkok as one of your meccas. I sure did. And if ever I find myself wandering around Bangkok, I will surely try out more of their local brands and products. Based on the purchases I did, no regrets!
